Zarate Albariño Rías Baixas Val do Salnés 2019

92 Wine Advocate | 92 James Suckling

"While the vast majority of Albariño is made on an industrial scale to knock back easily in its youth, there are a handful of tiny artisanal producers who are pushing the boundaries of this region and this varietal and crafting some of Spain’s most original, complex and age-worthy white wines. And in the top echelon of this pyramid is Bodegas Zarate, who is one of Rias Baixas’ and Spain’s most exciting and talented winemakers." -Polaner Selections

92 Wine Advocate – The eponymous 2019 Zárate is their entry-level Albariño, a vintage with structure and acidity, still very young, a powerful vintage with more of everything and probably a long-distance runner. It’s varietal and clean, characterful, powerful and with a long, tasty finish, vibrant and almost salty. 64,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2020.

92 James Suckling – Subtle aromas of dried peach, apple and lemon with some mineral, too. Steely. Medium-bodied, tight and crisp. Drink now.
