This is an absolutely delicious wine that turns Pinot Grigio’s reputation totally upside down. It is sourced mainly from a two hectare single vineyard named "Jesera", supplemented with grapes from four other neighboring vineyards. "Jesera" translates to "little lake" in Slovenian, and the wine takes the name from a stream that runs at the bottom of the vineyard. While not full on “orange wine”, it does get its slightly copper/brick/salmon tinge from a long maceration on the skins (most whites are pressed off immediately, with some vintages as long as 24 hours. Around 10% of wine is aged in large barrels (20-27 hectoliter) with the rest in stainless steel. The result? A compelling dry wine with loads of character, medium bodied with lovely texture and tension from start to finish. Full;er, broader and WAY more interesting than ordinary PG!!
