I am an enormous fan of Britt’s namesake Nichols 2018 and if you tried it, I’m sure you are too. But the 2019s are even more opulent and enjoyable.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate summed it up perfectly.
“In this first concerted look at the 2019s from barrel, I can conclude that this is a vintage that is going to make a lot of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon lovers, in particular, very happy. The vintage has produced a good many high-quality wines, generally of a classic, ripe, plush and beautifully expressive style. What’s more, there appears to be a good consistency of quality, from bottom to top…”
The 2019s are going to be hard to resist. They are a return to big fruit forward wines – that are almost too delicious right out of the gate. I worry most will be long gone before they’re even allowed to age at all, much less the 20+ years potential that most have ahead of them.
