Don’t miss this ready to drink stunning Italian bargain – a deep, dark incredibly delicious red from a wine making family with 500 years of history behind them. Owner and winemaker Alessandro Starrabba, the current generation at the helm of this historic winery, hands-down makes some of the best value Montepulciano to be found in Italy.

The key to this wine’s superb quality lies in the organically farmed grapes that are sourced from some of the top vineyards in the DOC. They are located in and around Offagna, located in the heart of the Rosso Conero appellation where Alessandro’s family has owned vines since the 1600s!

It’s 100% Montepulciano grapes, soils that are a mix of limestone, chalk, clay and sand, farmed organically and hand harvested. Fermentation is in stainless steel to preserve this wine’s lovely dark fruit, followed by aging in neutral barrels and large casks to soften and round the tannins without overpowering the wine with oak. Balanced, deep and dark, bursting with cherry, earth tones and a rich plush mouthfeel, this is a versatile delicious wine that will give Chianti Classico costing twice as much a run for their money.

92 Points Vinous Media – “The 2016 Malacari Rosso Conero explodes from the glass with a mix of ripe cherries and blueberries, complemented by hints of cinnamon and clove and a grounding note of fresh bay leaves. It floods the palate with silky richness, ushering in dark ripe fruits and spice in a round and deeply satisfying expression, as fine tannins slowly settle in. The finish is long and structured, yet still quite fresh, balanced by residual acids with a purple floral air, and hints of wild berry lingering on. Wow, this is a mouthful of gorgeous Montepulciano fruit, and it’s a real value score as well.”
