Good old California Chardonnay. It’s like the comfort food of wine. But in the lower price ranges it is also a sea of medicority. Bland and thin, or cloying and oaked, and at under $20 we are not talking about $800 new French oak barrels either. Chips and extracts are more likely at work.
BUT THERE IS HOPE! This beautiful, clean, focused and frankly delicious wine puts all that to rest! The focus here is on is on bright fruit and minerality with apricot and white peach notes and floral aromatics, and little or no apparent oak other than a whisper that it gets from its time in neutral French barrels.

APPELLATION: California
GRAPE: Chardonnay
VINEYARD: Sourced from multiple vineyard sources from around northern California, as far north as Anderson Valley to as far south as Lodi
SOIL: sandy, loam soils
VITICULTURE: farmed using sustainable methods
VINIFICATION: The grapes are whole cluster pressed over a long, gentle pressing before fermented in vertical, stainless steel tanks
AGING: Aged in a combination of French oak (majority of which is neutral) and stainless steel.
NOTES: Like the flagship Heroine Chardonnay, the focus is on bright fruit and minerality with apricot and white peach notes and floral aromatics.
