Feudo Montoni Nero d'Avola Vigna Lagnusa 2019

92 Points Vinous Media – “Sweet violets and rose come together with crushed blackberries and a spritz of tangerine to form an inviting bouquet as the 2019 Nero d’Avola Lagnusa opens in the glass. It’s silky-smooth and round, the ripe black fruits and confectionary spices creating a seductive display. Brisk acids and minerals build tension through the finale, making pleasant punctuation to such an extroverted yet balanced expression.”

Today Sicilian wine has almost earned its way out of Geek wine status, with the island becoming a hotbed of incredible, well made wines from crazy native grape varieties combined with cutting edge winemaking philosophy (natural/organic/non-interventional) and centuries of tradition.

Feudo Montoni embodies the movement, producing top-quality wines on its historic grounds since 1469. Fabio Sireci is the third generation of the family that has owned the estate since the late 1800s. Today they farm organically and believe in as little intervention as possible. The results are some of the purest expressions of the unique grapes and terroir of the beautiful island. The Nero D’Avola on offer is a perfect example, and the press reviews pretty much sum it. My advice? Don’t delay, only a handful of cases on offer!
