Country: USA

Region: Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Variety: Pinot Noir

Terroir: 84% estate fruit, with the rest sourced from the Cattrall Brothers’ Pear and Bishop Creek vineyards; 88% Nekia and Jory and 12% Woodburn

Winemaking: Vines are non-irrigated, own-rooted, Guyot-trained, spacings varying from 12’ x 6’ to 6’ x 3; hand-harvested (most fully destemmed); fermentation conducted in small (0.75 ton / 200 gallon) lots with 3 manual punchdowns each 24 hours; indigenous yeast; extended barrel oak aging for 18+ months (8% French Oak, 92% truly neutral with an average 20 year fill history); aged sur lees; racked only during blending; certified biodynamic

94 James Suckling  – A blend of all five Eyrie sites, this gives a gauge on the 2017 harvest here, as one that delivered fresh and complex style. Red-cherry, raspberry, blueberry and leafy aromas with gently earthy and spicy tones in equal measure. The palate has a very smooth core of fleshy red-cherry flavors and carries a velvety tannin texture long and fresh. Seriously complex pinot. Drink or hold.

92 Wine Advocate – Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Estate is classically styled, with scents of red and blackberry fruit and accents of forest floor, tobacco, and aniseed. The light-bodied palate is juicy and soft, with intense, earth-laced fruits and a long, spicy finish.
