Domaine Weinbach Les Vignes du Precheur 2019
“Dry with incredibly fresh white flowers, citrus, and clover notes on the nose, bright and clean and focused on the palate with a nice core of roundish apple tinged fruit and a fresh finish. This wine is only offered by two other shops online – one at $26.99, with another at $55 (though they are sold out) – a price closer to what most Weinbach fetch.
Today we have an amazing price on this new-born classic just $24.99 with even bigger savings on six or more. This is a perfect sushi, mild fish, chicken or ham type wine, and great all on its own. The 2019 Vignes du Precheur is a mix of 40% Riesling, 30% Auxerrois, 20% Pinot Gris, 5% Muscat, and 5% Sylvaner, sourced from the land acquired at the foot of the Grand Crus. The grapes are all co-fermented in old oak vats and bottled after eight months on lees.
It is basically Weinbach’s version of “Edelzwicker”, an Alsatian wine term taken from the German words "edel" (noble) and "zwicker" (blend) that goes back to the 1600’s, but is generally a less expensive blend of grapes as opposed to the the classics which are a single grape variety.
Step up and try this first ever release and a great introduction to the superb wines of Domain Weinbach at a very affordable price. Cheers! Chris Cree, MW
