Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf Du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier 2019

95-97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck – 96 Points – Vinous Media

If you know this producer, no more needs to be said. If you don’t suffice to say that Isabel Ferrando is one of the top winemakers, not just in Châteauneuf du Pape, but in the world. I love her wines for their power, yet in the case of the August Fevrier, there is also a freshness and balance that is so hard sometimes to acheive in this warm, sunny region. Need more proof? Here’s what the top critics have to say:

“Domaine St.-Préfert and Domaine Ferrando, the joint domaines owned by Isabel Ferrando, have become reference points for red and white -du-Pape since they were founded…. " – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, July 2014.

"Proprietress Isabel Ferrando has taken her Saint Prefert estate to France’s highest level, and she’s unquestionably making some of the most profound wines on earth today, including both reds and whites.” -Jeb Dunnuck

96 Points – Vinous Media – “Always the most elegant wine on the lineup, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier is mostly Grenache yet has a solid amount of Cinsault, and it can include a splash of Mourvèdre in some vintages. This beauty offers deeper, richer notes of redcurrants, bouquet garni, and earth, full-bodied richness, a smoky, meaty character, plenty of mid-palate stuffing, and a great finish.”
