Winemaking: De-stemmed; 60+ year old vines; indigenous yeast; aged 18 months in barrel (35% new); unfined and unfiltered; practicing organic

94 Vinous – A blend of 50- to 70-year-old vines from various parcels around Brochon, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin “Mes Cinq Terroirs” has a taut, strict bouquet of pixelated red berry fruit laced with crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, superb acidity, a silky-smooth texture and a crystalline finish. Outstanding.
Barrel Sample: 92-94

93 Wine Advocate – The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs unwinds in the glass with a deep bouquet of cherries, cassis, orange rind, rich soil tones and smoke. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a promising sense of structural reserve despite its exuberant core of fruit. This is a fine rendition of Mortet’s emblematic communal bottling and vindicates his decision to harvest early.
Barrel Sample: 90-93

93 Decanter – Arnaud Mortet’s wonderfully reliable village Gevrey is made, as its name indicates, from five parcels close to the new cuverie in the upper part of the village. Always more than the sum of its parts, it’s an eminently affordable way to experience the talents of this remarkable young winemaker. Tangy, sweet and refreshing, with raspberry, red cherry and aniseed notes and beautifully applied 30% new wood.
