Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette 2019
94 Wine Advocate – 93 Vinous Media
One of my all time favorite Beaujolais producers, Roilette has once again delivered a masterpiece. We’ve had this almost since we opened, not enough for an offer, just a few cases left, all of us buying a bottle now and then to enjoy, now with an extra year in the bottle which the wines of Roilette so often need. Drink this classic now and over the next 3-5 years at least!
Rated 94 The Wine Advocate – "Readers will remember that I admired the 2019 Fleurie last year, and that hasn’t changed on reacquaintance. Bursting with scents of raspberries, orange rind, rose petals, spices and potpourri, it’s medium to full-bodied, perfumed and fine boned, with lively acids and an enveloping core of succulent fruit framed by powdery tannins. It’s a vintage that will delight purists.
Rated 93 Vinous Media – "Brilliant violet. Powerful, mineral-tinged red and blue fruit and floral pastille scents acquire a spicy nuance and a hint of licorice with air. Gently sweet and broad on the palate, offering boysenberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that firm up steadily through the back half. Finishes smooth, sappy and long, with repeating spiciness and harmonious tannins adding gentle closing grip."
