Bourcier-Martinot Le Voyageur Chardonnay 2020
$15.98 on six or more – Best Buy Chardonnay from one of our favorite wineries!
Childhood friends and brothers-in-law Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray’s Bourcier-Martinot label has consistently been one of the best sources of delicious, affordable white Burgundy we have ever worked with. Located in the village of Davaye, they source grapes from vineyards in surrounding Mount Pouilly and the limestone escarpments known as Solutré and Vergisson.
But in 2021 their vines were decimated by an early season freeze, essentially wiping out up to 90% of the crop for the year. Undeterred, they began to look for an alternative source, and found it in the southern region of the Languedoc in a cool site high in the hills. The result is a dead ringer for their Macon wines, fresh, clean bright Chardonnay with a lovely creamy note, medium body, nice acidity, and a clean, pretty finish.
Anyone who was lucky enough to have bought in the Le Collines Chardonnay we offered a few months back knows how god wine from this region can be, and this is a worthy follow up to that successful wine. In stock now, open to taste this weekend!
