Bodegas Olivares Jumilla Rosado 2020

91 Vinous

You would think that in the far southwest of Spain, where the climate is typically harsh, hot, and dry, that it would be impossible to produce a rosé wine that is as bright, fresh and lively as this! The secret is that the grapes for this incredible value priced rosé are from vineyards located in the north of the appellation at an elevation of 825 meters where it is much cooler! It also has sandy chalk soils that make it possible to grow ungrafted vines, and the dry conditions make organic farming that much easier.

The result is a delicious, affordable rosé that is perfect for spring and summer. Hints of melon, citrus, and delicate red fruit tones lead off on the nose and follow on the palate, with fresh bright acidity, lively fruit, a hint of citrus pith to provide some lovely nerve, and dry, clean focus from start to finish. Perfect with all kinds of summer fare – salads, grilled fish, clams, sushi, cheeses, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, or all on its own on a warm spring afternoon.
